Meet Your Instructor
Meet Mick Smith, PGA
Three-time Player of the Year and three-time Senior Player of the Year PGA professional, teaching all year in an indoor TrackMan studio.
The Story
From Sydney to Summit
I grew up in Sydney, Australia, and played tennis until I was 15. Then I picked up golf and never looked back — I was once one of the top-ranked amateurs in Australia. In 1997 I moved to the United States to play college golf at Wallace State in Alabama, and apart from one season back home on the PGA Tour of Australasia, I've built my career here.
I've been a golf professional for 27 years. For the last 10 I've lived in Wisconsin, and this is home now. I run Mick Smith Golf out of my indoor TrackMan studio in Summit, so Wisconsin winters never stop you from getting better. I teach year-round.
Active Competitor
Still Competing at the Highest Level
Mick doesn't just teach the game — he still plays it at an elite level. Competing on the Wisconsin PGA circuit keeps his game sharp and his instruction grounded in what actually works under pressure.
Very few instructors can say they've won at the highest level of their section while also building a full-time teaching practice. Mick does both — and that competitive edge shows up in every lesson.

The Method
How I Teach
Every lesson is one-on-one in my indoor TrackMan IO studio in Summit. No groups, no distractions — just you, your swing, and the data. TrackMan IO gives us precise launch and ball-flight numbers so we fix the right things, not just what looks wrong.
